One of the most popular and reviewed surf foils on the market today.

The Takuma Concept V100 came onto the scene not long after Kai Lenny blew the internet up with his foiling antics. We sold a few Naish Malolo foils and boards off the back of that but it was not long before the penny dropped and people started to ask why they were not flying above the water like Lenny was !

Wing surface area and skill has a lot to do with hydro foiling in waves or ocean swell as we’ve all since discovered.

The V100 has built it’s reputation as an easy and very progressive all-round foil, One foil that does it all…Surf, SUP and wind-watersports !

The V100 has a surface area of 1245cm2 which is not huge but its thick leading edge and good wingspan gives people a taste of what getting up on foil is like at slow speed in mushy waves. Its weight: an impressive 6.5kg is nothing to be shunned at, it gets you up on foil in most conditions and the weight actually gives it tonnes of stability and therefore control. The V1 fuselage is pretty basic and where a lot of the V100 foils weight comes from , the front wing slides into the fuselage and rear wing attaches via a shim , all hardware is Torx on the new Access models which really does stand the time better than hex bolts. Being a alloy/ composite foil it does need regular maintenance (takings the foil apart and washing) to avoid bolts  and hardware sticking.

Takuma adopted the plate mount early and this makes mounting the foil fiddly but gives great adjustability on your chosen board.

The v100 sold as standard with a 60cm mast, this gives the foil a great pump range. What we mean by pump range is – when you slow down and want additional speed or maybe you start to loose the swell your riding on – the height of the mast allows you to pump the wing freely in the water without the boards nose hitting the surface –  a shorter mast can limit this range.

The rear stabiliser being relatively large in surface area gives good inertia to every ounce of energy the rider puts through the foil.

Takuma concept unfortunately had to combat lots of copy cat versions which forced them to release the v100 predecessor the ‘ Takuma Access’.

The Access is a great starting foil with the benefits of the v100 but at a lower price point…Bonus ! so if you are looking for a budget first time surf foil and you’re not convinced you want to spend lots of cash … The Takuma Access is a great consideration especially as you can purchase additional front or rear wings for your Takuma foil at a later date  such as the v400 or v900 wing sets or even buy the updated V2 Fuselage which is lighter.

so if you are in the market for a throughly tested and acclaimed ‘surfing’ or Paddlesurf foiling hydrofoil then look no further than the V100/ Takuma Access
